Stuart Clayton emailed with an update on the progress of his tablature book.

"The publishers that own 2/3 of the rights have provisionally said yes to my book, but i have to obtain permission from the company that owns the other 1/3 of the copyright. This is happening at the moment, so it should be able to go ahead in the next few months, providing it's not going to cost me a fortune (unlikely). The price of the book will probably be £11.99 and i will hopefully be allowed to produce 100 copies initially. Once again, nothing is 100% definate yet, but thing's are certainly looking up!"

Visit the TABLATURE section for a preview of Stuart's work.

  • 12/25: MERRY CHRISTMAS from Carl & Laurel Mueller!!!

  • 12/22: Special thanks to Alan G. Brooks, the artist who did the cover of "The Chinese Way" and "Out Of Sight, Out Of Mind" 12-inch and 7-inch singles, for sending in an e-mail about the creation of these beautiful covers:

Just been looking at the 12-inch singles pics on your site. My name is Alan Brooks and I painted amongst other things for Level 42 "The Chinese Way" and "Out of sight Out of mind". Thank you for the compliment directed to the lady in the Chinese way, yes, in the end I managed to pull it off. I remember hurrying down to Polydor in London from my home in Birmingham at the time to meet Alwyn, the art director, to be given the brief for the job. I was given the lyrics to the song, a description of details from the band as to their requirements, a dreadful felt pen scribble of a face and a fan, a pat on the back and, as it was monday afternoon, I was given the extra added shock of being asked to deliver it to them on no later than wednesday next. Like a young green illustrator who knew no better and was eager to please, I accepted and said it could be done. I rushed home, stayed up all night, somehow finished it and stuck the parcel on the train to London for the agreed time. I dreaded hearing from Alwyn, the band, the manager - anyone. I was so nervous and petrified I had let everybody down. Not to worry, in the end it was a success and a particular favorite of many people, I hear. Just thought I would let you know the chaos behind the scenes or one of those pursuits of accidents.

    Alan G. Brooks - grapheteer3@isp.com
    http://www.grapheteer.co.uk/

    About the artwork:

I did the artwork straight down onto board with light pencil just enough to let me see where I was going when I started to airbrush the whole thing out freehand. I used gouache and transparent ink washes, some final tightening with a fine hand brush for mouth and eye details, and that was about it. I still smile to myself over that one and wonder how it all came together in the end. There was definitely no time to stop and think, I remember that much. Nice to know you were interested, I wish you well, seasons greetings and Peace.

    Alan

  • 12/9: Gary Husband is selling a drumkit! Read Terry Arnett's email:
(NOTE: visit Gary's page in the BAND MEMBERS section for some realvideo of him playing this kit!)

"Great News! If you are a Gary Husband fan and want to "sound like thunder", Gary Husband has the following for sale...

The "Gary Husband Special Edition" Masters Custom in Canary Yellow.
This kit was brilliantly featured on his video "Interplay & Improvisation on the Drums" & Jack Bruce's video "The Cream Of Cream" (in trio with Gary Moore).

Starting price of £6,000 or nearest reasonable offer.

If you are interested, please contact me, Terry Arnett at terry_arnett@ryder.plc.uk

    The kit comprises of the following... (dimensions in inches) Rack Toms: 10 x 6 1/2 (one off custom size, only one made), 12 x 8, 13 x 9, 14 x 11
    Floor Toms: 14 x 14, 16 x 16, 18 x 18
    Two 22 x 16 bass drums
    5,1/2 x 14 snare drum
Full Pearl DR1 rack system incorporating 5 boom cymbal arms, attachments for all rack toms, and a hi-hat stand.

He is not prepared to split the kit up. There are cases (stenciled with Gary's name) for everything except one of the bass drums and rack system.

Gary will also include memorabilia from tours from Billy Cobham and others. Just think, you will have primarily two very large kits in one, and be the talk of the drumming fraternity!

This opportunity should not be missed - this is "value for money" at it's very best.

If you are interested, please contact me, Terry Arnett, on the following...
    E Mail terry_arnett@ryder.plc.uk
    Phone +44 (0) 7770 951294

I look forward to hearing from you.

    Regards,

    Terry Arnett
